Congratulations to BWYA’s Class of 2016, who enjoyed their graduation ceremony last month at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Lido. The ceremony included moving speeches from both members of staff and the graduating students, as well as an inspiring speech from BWYA parent, Lee Kwon Haeng, writes IB School Principal, Robert Wang.
This year’s graduating class has been very diverse both in terms of destinations globally as well as intended majors. The destination countries and regions include the USA, UK, Canada, HK, Korea, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Australia, Dubai and Japan, while the intended majors fall on a wide spectrum from popular choices such as Economics and Computer Science to majors like Hotel Management, Architecture, Fashion Design and Creative Sound Technology. Some of the outstanding acceptances include: London School of Economics, University of HK, University of Virginia, University of California – San Diego, University of Toronto.
The success of this cohort would not be possible but for the hard work and dedication of the teachers and the staff at BWYA, especially those who taught the graduating class in the past two years. We are grateful that we have a team of educators with extensive IB teaching experience and, more importantly, a passion to cultivate interest in learning and to nurture character development for each student. The diversified majors and the many university acceptances of our graduates’ first choices best reflect that these efforts by the faculty have paid off.
I would also like to give my appreciation to the parents of the Class of 2016 for their continued support of the school as well as their unwavering trust in us to provide quality international education. In this cohort, there are 7 students who started to attend BWYA as a 6th grader and 12 as a 7th grader. I commend them for their enthusiasm for, and appreciation of, the IB education we offer at BWYA. They have certainly made a difference to who we are as a school.
